History of International Olympic Day 2021:
In 1947, a report about World Olympic Day was presented by a member of IOC in Czechoslovakia, Dr. Josef Gruss, in Stockholm. However, the idea of the Olympics was adopted in the 42nd IOC Session in St Moritz in January 1948, while the date to commemorate the day was chosen as 23rd June to observe the foundation of IOC.
With an aim to promote the idea of sports among young people, and to introduce them to the games, many countries participated in the events organized in their respective countries. Those countries are Portugal, Belgium, Austria, Canada, Switzerland, Great Britain, Greece, and Uruguay.
Significance of the International Olympic Day 2021:
On 23rd June every year, the Olympics Day is organized to celebrate the foundation of the International Olympic Committees (IOC), which was established on 23rd June 1894 in Sorbonne, Paris.
In the coming days, the need for sports and other recreational activities in our lives has been even more important considering the difficult days we are going through, and the gloomy environment we are living in. And towards this, even the NOCs across the countries are preparing to introduce various educational and cultural events that cater to every section, and every gender of the society.
