BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh government will introduce a lesson on the life of late former President APJ Abdul Kalam in schools across the state. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced here on Tuesday that this will make students ideal citizens in their life.
Chouhan condoled the demise of former President and said Dr Kalam left his dream for his followers, a large number of which include students, to learn a lesson from his dedicated life. "This will be taught in the schools as teaching children about Dr Kalam's life will inspire students in achieving their goals and make them ideal citizen", he told reporters at Bhopal airport.
Referring to his works, Chouhan said Dr Kalam proved that a person from a modest family background can make it to the highest office by the virtue of talent and hard work. He said Dr Kalam's death created a void in the field of science and technology, which is irreparable. Kalam was a visionary who not only dreamt to make India a developed country by 2020, but also drew an optimistic vision and guidelines for the country, he recalled.
Deepak Joshi, minister of state for school and higher education, told TOI that teachings of Dr Kalam have already impressed the students, specially the teaching fraternity across the world. We believe that he was among a few personalities who had many dimensions in life. Joshi said that Dr Kalam not only influenced the students but honest and hard working people across the country who rely on the motto, "work is worship".
A lesson on Dr Kalam's success, his aim and dedication besides, love for the country will inspire the coming generation for many years to come. The lesson would be introduced in the coming session of academics. State education board will select motivating thoughts of Dr Kalam and compile them for the primary and secondary classes, informed Joshi adding that government is willing to introduce lessons in the higher classes too which will be decided by the education board.
